Special Exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop in Chicago
In celebration of the Democratic National Convention being held in Chicago, the Abraham Lincoln Book Shop is proud to present a Special 1860 Wigwam Convention Exhibit. This unique display offers a rare glimpse into the momentous event that secured Abraham Lincoln’s nomination for the presidency. Highlights of the exhibit include:
Original Tally Sheet: On loan to the shop, an actual tally sheet used for the three ballots that nominated Lincoln, meticulously recorded by a delegate inside the historic Wigwam.
Campaign Handout: An 8" x 10" handout distributed within the convention hall, featuring the first-ever campaign image of Lincoln—complete with the iconic "tousled hair" photo.
Oil Painting: An oil painting "from life" created just weeks after the Wigwam convention.
Bronze Life Mask and Hands: A second-generation bronze cast of Lincoln's life mask and hands.
Campaign Memorabilia: Items such as a silk campaign ribbon, a song sheet and songster, an 1860 campaign lithograph showcasing all potential presidential candidates, Wide-Awake oil lamps, and 1860 campaign biographies.

Admission to this special exhibit is free. Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to connect with a pivotal moment in our nation’s history.
